The September meeting of the FPC will take place on Thursday, September 9th at 7 PM. As is usual, we will hold the meeting in person at the Frasier Retirement Community Theater at 350 Ponca Place in Boulder and via Zoom.

We’re excited to announce our first meeting of the 2025–2026 season, where we’ll come together to reconnect, share ideas, and shape the future of our club.

Agenda Highlights:

   •     Discussion of proposed changes to the club’s leadership structure
   •     Open call for volunteers to fill upcoming leadership roles
   •     A member image display/critique session

As we continue to grow and evolve, your input and involvement are more important than ever. Whether you’re a longtime member or new to the club, this is a great opportunity to help guide our direction and contribute to a vibrant, collaborative community.

The June meeting of the FPC will take place on Thursday, June 12th at 7 PM. As is usual, we will hold the meeting in person at the Frasier Retirement Community Theater at 350 Ponca Place in Boulder and via Zoom.

Our guest speaker Bob Dean will talk about Photographing Colorado’s Mountain Towns. Bob is a freelance and travel photographer with extensive experience in the western U.S., especially Colorado and California.

Colorado has less than four hundred official towns and cities today. In the heyday of mining in the late 1800s there were actually a few thousand towns in our state. Most of these towns were in the mountains, although the eastern plains had their share. The mountain towns in Colorado mostly started from mineral discoveries, but many have evolved into much more. Some mining still occurs but tourism, outdoor recreation and summer residency are now the main draws. Others have faded into ghost town status (defined as having few, if any residents, and abandoned for economic reasons). Our program will “focus” on the location, history, and photo ops for a number of these towns. You’ll come away with information to help you “see” these towns in a new light.

The May meeting of the FPC will take place on Thursday, May 8th at 7 PM. As is usual, we will hold the meeting in person at the Frasier Retirement Community Theater at 350 Ponca Place in Boulder and via Zoom.

Club member Steve Wilton will be showing and discussing a video he has produced with members Preston Newell and Donna Colville for the city-sponsored “Eyes on Longmont” project about local artists. Since this is a member presentation meeting, we will have a member critique for this month’s member-submitted images.

FPC member Marc Rochkind will be doing a presentation on his Black and White and Infrared Photography. “Every shot I take involves a basic decision: color or B&W? Sometimes before I press the shutter, and sometimes in post. I’ll present a dozen or two photos and explain why I decided what I did (e.g., essential color, distracting color, very little color, ugly color). This talk will be about WHY I convert, not HOW.”
