March 2024 Monthly Meeting – In-person and via Zoom

The Flatirons Photo Club will meet on Thursday, March 14, at 7 pm. The meeting will be held in the Frasier retirement community’s movie theater. Frasier is located at 350 Ponca Place in Boulder.

We will also have a Zoom option for those who choose not to attend in person. A Zoom link to the meeting will be emailed in advance to members and interested non-members. If you would like to be added to our mailing list, please send an email to flatirons[at] with the subject line ‘Mailing list’.

Club member Steve Wilton will be doing a presentation titled “The road to finding a personal style”. Steve describes this presentation as follows:

The presentation centers on my disciplined effort to discover my personal style. The majority of the presentation will describe the radar I employ to scan for unusual photo opportunities via six subject areas listed below. If time permits I will list my recommended influences beyond the world of Photography: Painting, Poetry, Music, and Video Games.

1) —Juxtapositions: contrasting, complementary, and ironic.
2) —Blind Spots: using a phone camera and selfie stick
3) —The Uncommon Common
4) —Easter Eggs
5) —Everyday Oddities
6) —Humor

Relative to his ongoing efforts to learn the deep skills of photography, Steve describes himself as an, “old man in a hurry”.

After Steve’s presentation, members will present their two (2) submitted images for members’ comments and critiques. Members will be provided time to give a short summary on their submitted images before or after the member members comments and critiques.

Whether you are attending in person or joining via Zoom, please come early to socialize!
